To wed or not to wed-that is the question
Why do people get married? Because it’s what people do. Marriage is part of the system. It’s part of the process and like most other traditions that are part of what people do, people get married because people generally go along with what is done rather than stopping to question why it’s done and why they want to do it. You’d think that with so many marriages ending in divorce people would start to examine this system of marriage, but again, human nature being what it is, it doesn’t seem to occur to anyone that the best approach to figuring out where something is going wrong is to start at the foundation, at the root, and work your way to the surface. In problems of marriage people don’t usually go so far as to examine the foundation of the institution to begin with; but doing so could save hundreds of thousands of people worldwide from the heartache that comes about eventually as a marriage deteriorates.
So you are planning to get married? Perhaps the best thing you and your intended can do for yourselves and each other is to read the book “Marriage is Not About Love and Romance”. It might save you from becoming another casualty of marriage.
